Bargaining Updates!

Our Working Groups are preparing for bargaining
We currently have six Working Groups preparing for our upcoming bargaining sessions: Compensation, Benefits & Family Care, Career Advancement, Anti-Discrimination, Transportation & Housing, and International Workers. Members of these Working Groups are reviewing the Bargaining Survey data, researching current UW policies, and crafting ideas to bring to the bargaining table. Here are a few highlights of what is being developed:

  • The Compensation working group is developing a proposal to raise Research Scientists’ wages to be more competitive in the marketplace and to meet UW’s own stated goals for what staff should be paid. In addition, we want to bargain for guaranteed annual raises that will make sure our wages keep up with the rising cost of living. Please contact us at compensation-A4@uaw4121.org to get involved!
  • The Benefits & Family Care working group is researching different aspects of RSE benefits and developing proposals that address the needs of the RSE workforce, ranging from time off and leave to support for caregivers and parents to other benefits. Please email us at benefits-a4@uaw4121.org to get involved! 
  • ‘More transparency in raises and promotions’ is a recurring theme we’ve heard from UW Researchers! The Career Advancement working group is developing processes with the goal of more equitable and clearer steps to advance in our careers. Share your ideas on how we should achieve this by contacting the Career Advancement WG (job-security-a4@uaw4121.org)!

We’ve added a new Bargaining Center page to our website where you’ll find the full text of all bargaining proposals passed during negotiations. This page will be updated within 24 hours of each bargaining session.
