PERC Hearing, General Meeting, Your Name on Bargaining Demands, More

PERC Hearing Tuesday 7/12 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Zoom)
It’s been more than a month since our last scheduled hearing date regarding UW Admin challenges to the inclusion of hundreds of RSEs A-4 in the bargaining unit [https://uwresearchersunited.org/perc-hearing-update-voting-soon/]. Tomorrow we expect to hear more testimony about UW’s claim that several dozen RSEs should be excluded due to “community of interest” factors, as well as testimony as to the managerial/supervisory status of RSEs working in Cost/Service Centers. At our next general meeting we’ll give updates about what happened at the PERC hearing and discuss our plans to involve as many RSEs as possible in preparations for our first bargaining session on August 15th. This will include:

  • Reviewing and signing on to our Initial Bargaining Demands
  • Filling out our Bargaining Survey
  • Joining a Work Group with RSE colleagues to make a deeper dive into key topics we’ll address in bargaining (compensation, anti-discrimination/harassment, job security, and more).

We’ve gotten this far through strong majority participation, and winning a great first contract will undoubtedly require the same. Please attend this important meeting to help shape our plan!
