Good news! We have successfully negotiated with UW administration around ensuring that certain pay increases will no longer be held up during our “dynamic status quo” period. Administration has agreed to move forward with allowing in-grade pay raises, promotions, FTE changes, and other salary adjustments (including retroactively) for RSE A-4s during bargaining. We were able to achieve this win through our collective strength!
Unfortunately, UW administration would not agree to allow merit raises to go through for RSE A-4s. This is further evidence of the vulnerability of the current merit raise system, in which merit raises can be withheld for non-unionized staff without any input from us (as occurred in 2020, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, etc.). With collective bargaining, we will be able to negotiate a more equitable raise system. If you haven’t already, please review our Initial Bargaining Demands and add your name here–each name added strengthens our bargaining position and helps ensure that we are able to negotiate a strong contract! Please encourage your colleagues to endorse the Initial Bargaining Demands as well. Our first bargaining session is scheduled for August 15th from 1-3pm.
Thank you for your continued support, and stay tuned for updates. Respond to this email if you’d like to get more involved and help build a more fair, equitable working environment at UW.
